Fate brought
Mystic and I together in the fall of 2002. I
will never forget the first time I saw him –
standing in his run, with his dish in his mouth
and wagging his tail so hard I thought it might
fly off. It was love at first sight and I fell
head over heels. Being new to the fancy, I had
no idea who Mystic was or that he was quite well
known. I just knew he was coming home with me
and that he was never going to leave.
I have learned
so much about pedigrees from doing research for
dogs from Mystic’s bloodlines. Others earned
Mystic’s many titles before he came to live with
me so I certainly cannot take any credit for
that! It is always a pleasure to meet or hear
from people who knew Mystic or who own dogs that
are related to him.
Mystic was a
very handsome boy and oh that coat! However, he
did not just have looks. He was a good tempered,
affectionate, funny guy who brought much joy
into my life. He had superb retrieving
instincts- I never knew what was going bring
into the house. An excellent traveler, he often
accompanied me when I went out of town on
business. He was also a hit with crowds at
public events. Mystic loved to see people but
his tendency to want to grab people by the arm
did surprise more than one! He was a quiet dog
in that he rarely barked but he did like to talk
– and as he always had something in his mouth
the sound came out as err err, err err . If it
was nearing suppertime, the object in his mouth
was usually his beloved dish and the talking
would get louder, accompanied by an impatient
tapping of his front paws. Whenever the dogs got
a nice bone to chew, the others would run off
with their prize. Mystic would stand and tell me
all about his bone (mouth full) until I agreed
that it was indeed fabulous and then off he
would go.
Mystic has left
a very large paw print on my heart. My Moondog
Luvins Boy. If the fates that brought us
together smile upon me once again, Mystic’s
legacy will live on at Dragonloft.
