My mother
passed away on December 23, 2006
after a three year battle with

home for nearly twenty years. Mom
was my best friend, my rock, my icon
and I miss her every single day. She
lived life in a way that at times
had me holding my breath, all the
while wondering if I would ever find
her courage and joie de vivre. She

Excerpt from Phenomenal Woman
(By
Maya Angelou) |
I walk into
a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.
